The Hazard Mapping Report of Kainakary Grama Panchayat, prepared under the leadership of Living Lab Alleppey  was officially released at the District Panchayat Hall at 10:30 AM. The report was inaugurated by Dr. Joy Elamon, Director General, KILA, who emphasized that in the backdrop of global warming and climate change, recurring natural hazards are increasingly threatening local communities, livelihoods, and safety. Unlike previous studies in Kuttanad, this report has been designed to support disaster preparedness and local development planning by providing practical insights for local self-governments.

The session was presided over by A. Shobha (Chairperson, Development Standing Committee, District Panchayat), with a welcome address by Prof. N.C. Narayanan (IIT Bombay). The keynote address was delivered by Rohit Joseph (Research Assistant, IIT Bombay). Greetings and reflections were shared by M.C. Prasad (President, Kainakary Grama Panchayat), Sreekanth (Vice President, Champakulam Block Panchayat), Dr. Monish Joseph (Associate Professor, KILA), and Drishya Vishwan (Research Assistant, KILA).

This report marks a step forward in making scientific risk mapping accessible to local self-governments, ensuring that disaster management strategies in Kuttanad remain community-centered, evidence-based, and future-ready.
