Mararikulam North Panchayat Prepares to Become a Clean Village

As part of the “Alappuzha – Total Sanitation Constituency” initiative, which aims to make all local self-government institutions in the constituency completely waste-free, Mararikulam North Panchayat is gearing up to achieve the status of a clean and waste-free village.

To begin, a sanitation survey has been launched to assess the existing waste management systems in the panchayat. A training session for the survey was held at the Kanichukulangara Cooperative Auditorium.

Panchayat President Sudharshana Bhai Teacher inaugurated the training program. Rohit Joseph, Co-coordinator of , delivered the keynote presentation, while Muhammad Kunjashan, Assistant Co-ordinator of the Suchitwa Mission, spoke on the state of waste management in Alappuzha.

The training sessions were led by CAN Alappuzha team members Drishya, Geethu, and Sulaikha.

The Living Lab Alleppey is actively contributing to this process by integrating data collection, participatory learning, and localized waste solutions. The insights gained from the sanitation survey will be used to design targeted interventions, enabling Mararikulam North to serve as a model for sustainable and community-driven sanitation.
