Winter School on Climate Adaptation: Indo-German Collaboration

A winter school was organised as part of the The Indo-German Partnership (IGP) project  joined by students and scholars from Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies, IIT Bombay and Technical University of Munich. The larger theme of the school was Climate Adaptation in a Coastal Delta’.

As part of the school, the group paid a visit to Living Lab Alleppey. They were introduced to the key concerns and challenges in the Kuttanad region pertaining to climate change through a series of interactive sessions with faculty from IIT Bombay and regional institutions. The school also had a field work component where they made visits to Kuttanad, where post the floods of 2018, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay along with the Government of Kerala have been working on developing localized climate adaptive solutions through Living Lab Alleppey.

The students from TUM presented their learnings on the Global South on the last day of the school. The students were also taken  on a heritage walk alongside the canals. The larger objective of the program was to provide students with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural exposure to issues of climate change and disasters to arrive at sustainable solutions.
