As part of the Nirmmal Bhavanam Nirmmal Nagaram 2.0 – Azhakode Alappuzha Campaign, Valiyamaram Ward has formed a Cleanliness Committee under the third phase of the campaign.
The meeting was inaugurated by Councillor AS Kavitha and chaired by Ward Councillor Naseer Punnakkal. JHI Sumes Pavithran delivered the welcome address. Participants included JHI Tenshi Sebastian, ADS Chairperson Shahitha, Secretary Hema Sindhu, CanAlapy coordinators Sulaikha, IRTC coordinators Vishnu, Sharukh, ASH workers, Haritha Karma Sena members, Kudumbashree workers, cleanliness volunteers, and representatives of political parties.
The campaign is implementing source-segregation systems and promoting inorganic waste collection by Haritha Karma Sena. Its goal is to cultivate a culture of waste-free public spaces, ensuring that all households and neighborhoods in the ward are clean with active community participation.
Currently, 36% of households in the ward have agreed to adopt bio-bins. The Bio-Bin Challenge will ensure that all households without waste processing facilities receive bio-bins.
House-to-house collection drives, awareness visits, and cleaning activities will continue in the coming days.
