As part of the fourth phase of the Nirmala Bhavanam Nirmala Nagaram 2.0 – Azhakode Alappuzha campaign, a sanitation committee was formed in the Thathampally ward.
Ward Councillor Kochuthresya presided over the meeting, which was inaugurated by Standing Committee Chairman for Development, Shanavas. Councillor Kavitha, Municipal Senior Clerk Prince, Health Department officials Tenshi Sebastian and Girish A.S., Can Alappuzha representatives Jesna and Jagannath, IRTC members Vishnu, Sharuq, Nermin, Jannath, Haritha Karma Sena workers, Kudumbashree members, Residence Association representatives, political party representatives, and others participated.
At present, Haritha Karma Sena collects only 27% of inorganic waste in the ward. The target is to achieve 100%. Source-level waste management will be ensured through the Biobin Challenge.
House visits, awareness classes, cleaning drives, sanitation rallies, and other programmes will be organized in the coming days in the ward.
This initiative is being supported by Living Lab Alleppey to ensure sustainable waste management practices.
