As part of the Nirmala Bhavanam, Nirmala Nagaram 2.0 (NBNN 2.0) – Azhakode Alappuzha campaign, seven more wards—Iravukad, Civil Station, Kommadi, Thondankulangara, Thumpoli, Valiyamaram, and Vadakanal—have progressed towards full sanitation.
The sanitation declaration ceremony was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad at the municipal premises. Bio-bins were provided to all households lacking source-level waste management facilities, and Harithakarma Sena’s non-organic waste collection was extended to all homes. Sanitation committees cleaned public spaces, and activities including household visits, awareness classes, competitions, cleanliness processions, and lighting of cleanliness lamps turned the NBNN 2.0 campaign into a city-wide sanitation festival embraced by the people.
The meeting was chaired by Municipal Chairperson Soumya Raj, with Vice-Chairman P.S.M. Hussain welcoming the participants. Minister P. Prasad honored the councillors of the sanitation wards. Deputy Agriculture Director Mercy, Health Standing Committee member Beena Ramesh, municipal officials, Canalpy, IRTC, Harithakarma Sena, Kudumbashree, and Living Lab Alleppey representatives also participated in the program.
