As part of the Nirmala Bhavanam Nirmala Nagaram 2.0 – Azhakode Alappuzha Campaign, Mullath Ward has proudly attained the milestone of Total Sanitation Status. The declaration ceremony was held today at 4:00 PM near Mullath Muslim Mosque and was inaugurated by Alappuzha Municipality Chairperson, Smt. Soumya Raj. The session was presided over by Health Standing Committee Chairperson, Beena Ramesh, with a welcome address by Ward Councillor, Salim Mullath.
Vice Chairperson P.S.M. Hussain, Health Officer Harshid, and Nimmi Alexander (President, Inner Wheel Club of Alappuzha) addressed the gathering. ADS Chairperson Laila Thyagarajan delivered the vote of thanks.
Mullath Ward earned the status by ensuring scientific management of biodegradable waste and by committing to hand over all household plastic waste to the Haritha Karma Sena.
The program was conducted in collaboration with Living Lab Alleppey, CANALPY, and IRTC, reflecting the strong partnership between community groups, researchers, and municipal leadership.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Councillors Kavitha A.S., Nejitha Harris, Rakhi Rejikumar, Naseer Punnakkal, B. Naseer, Raihanath, Manisha, officials from the Municipal Health Department, along with Haritha Karma Sena workers, ADS members, and political party representatives.
This milestone marks another important step in Alappuzha’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive sanitation through collaborative action.
