Master Plan for Comprehensive Solid Waste Management in Alappuzha Launched

A two-day workshop to prepare a master plan for solid waste management within Alappuzha Municipality commenced at the municipal council hall, jointly organized by CanAlpy, IIT Bombay & KILA, and Alappuzha Municipality. The workshop was inaugurated by Chairperson Soumya Raj, with a welcome address by Municipality Health Officer K.P. Varghese. Prof. N.C. Narayanan delivered the keynote presentation.

Representatives from various institutions and organizations involved in waste generation and management participated, presenting the challenges they currently face and sharing recommendations to improve solid waste management in the city.

Municipality Secretary Neethu, Health Standing Committee Chair Beena Ramesh, and Councilor B. Naseer also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts for effective waste management.

This workshop is conducted in collaboration with Living Lab Alleppey, ensuring knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and community involvement in creating a sustainable solid waste management framework for Alappuzha.
