The administration and officials of Manickal Gram Panchayat, Thiruvananthapuram, visited Alappuzha to study the liquid waste management model implemented at Chathanad Municipal Colony, jointly developed by KILA and IIT Bombay.
The delegation also observed various aerobic composting plants, municipal-led organic vegetable cultivation initiatives, and Kerala’s pioneering “Pola From Money” project.
The visit was guided by K.S. Rajesh, District Coordinator of Haritha Kerala Mission, Alappuzha, and the delegation was welcomed by Alappuzha Municipality Chairperson Soumya Raj and Health Standing Committee Chair Beena Ramesh, highlighting the city’s integrated approach to sustainable waste management.
This study tour was conducted in collaboration with Living Lab Alleppey, ensuring knowledge sharing and practical insights for replication in other regions.
