The meeting was presided over by Ward Councillor Sajesh and inaugurated by Municipal Chairperson Sowmya Raj. Health Standing Committee Chairperson Beena Ramesh, Councillors M.R. Prem and Kavitha AS, Health Department officials Sumeesh Pavithran and Shebeen, Can Alappuzha members Jesna and Sarig, IRTC representatives Vishnu and Nermin, Haritha Karma Sena members, Kudumbashree workers, residence association representatives, and political party representatives participated.

Key activities include implementing household-level waste management systems, strengthening the collection of non-biodegradable waste through Haritha Karma Sena, and promoting a culture of cleanliness where waste is not dumped in public spaces. The campaign aims to make all houses and areas in the municipality waste-free through active community participation.

Through the Biobin Challenge, all houses without waste management systems will be provided with biobins. Currently, non-biodegradable waste collection by Haritha Karma Sena in the ward stands at 27%, which will be scaled up to 100%.

Awareness classes, household visits, sanitation drives, and cleanliness rallies are planned in the coming days to engage the community further.

This initiative is being supported by Living Lab Alleppey, ensuring citizen-driven, sustainable waste management practices.
