One-day workshop on Urban Water Body rejuvenation with a focus on AS Canal lying within the limits of Cherthala Municipality was held on 5 October at the World Backwaters resort. Put together by the IIT reasearch team, with the guidance of Prof N C Narayanan, the workshop is part of the ongoing Living Lab Project.ย
Joined by academicians from different Engineering colleges in Kerala, the Cherthala Municipal Chairperson, Secretary and other officials, PCB officials professionals from Development organisations and M.Tech students the workshop tried to develop a methodology to study the pollution of urban water bodies. The workshop primarily focused on the three themes of canal shed preparation, sanitation and water quality and tried to build from earlier work on canals in Alappuzha and to refine the existing methods. The next phase includes extensive data collection which will be carried out by students.
