The Rani Canal, previously clogged with waste and stagnant water, is now flowing cleanly into the backwaters as part of the Rani Canal Cleanliness Campaign. The campaign was inaugurated near the Vadappozhi Bridge by Alappuzha MP Adv. A.M. Arif, with Municipal Chairperson Soumya Raj presiding.
MP Adv. A.M. Arif administered the cleanliness pledge, which was collectively taken by residents gathered along the canal banks.
The event was attended by Vice Chair P.S.M. Hussain, Health Standing Committee Chairperson Beena Ramesh, Welfare Standing Committee Chair Shanavas, councilors Claram Peter, M.R. Prem, B. Naseer, Mary Leena, P. Rahiyanath, Saleem, Elgin Richard, Naseer Punnakkal, Health Officer K.P. Vargheese, Head Clerk Prince, HIs, JHIs, CANALPY & Living Lab Alleppey team members, and IRTC staff.
Municipal contingency staff, Harithakarma Sena, and NREG workers actively participated, making the cleanliness drive a comprehensive civic effort.
